Individual actors will have different circumstances depending on whether they are union or non-union. SAG, AFTRA, and Actors' Equity each have their own standards and rules. Non-union actors will often have no representation when entering agreements, and this is always a mistake. Singers & Musicians
As a songwriter, the rights to musical compositions give rise to several legal questions. Mechanical reproduction rights, royalties, recording rights, performance rights, and lyrics and composition each have their own special set of conditions and circumstances to secure them properly. ASCAP, SESAC, and BMI can be helpful, but without proper advice or representation, improper recording of rights can lead to many expensive problems down the road.
